Privacy policy

Who we are?

There is no ‘we’, only I, Marie Rebelle, and the websites I run, which are Rebel’s Notes and Wicked Wednesday.

This privacy policy applies to both these sites.

Protecting your privacy

I am a strong believer of protecting the privacy of all my visitors, which means your personal information will never be used beyond the permissions you give me or as required by law.

On my sites, as mentioned above, personal data may be collected, processed and used. The way your information is used is to contact you regarding the services you have requested, and/or to offer you services, and/or to provide the services you have requested. This includes comments and subscriptions to any or both of the websites. Rebel’s Notes and Wicked Wednesday may employ trusted third party specialists to process and use your data on our behalf in order to deliver content to you in a more efficient manner.

What personal data is collected and why?

Comments
When you leave a comment on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form (name, email and website), and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. I reserve the right to publish comments made on the Rebel’s Notes and Wicked Wednesday websites. The email address you provide when you comment will never be published. You are allowed to use any email address to comment. The WordPress software records the IP address of your device when you comment, but that IP address is never published and it will be removed from the system if you request to have all of your data removed. This means all your comments will be removed too.

Since the settings is to use the Gravatar logo when you comment on the website, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are registered with them. After approval of your comment, your chosen profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Click here to read the privacy policy of the Gravatar service.

Media
If and when you upload images to the website (this applies to the Wicked Wednesday writing service), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. If you leave the EXIF data intact, visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from your images.

Contact forms
Anyone who use the contact form on Rebel’s Notes is asked to supply personal data, such as name and email address. There is no contact form on the Wicked Wednesday site, but your email address and name will be visible when you send us an email.

Your data will never be used for anything beyond the reason stated in your email and the permissions you grant me.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as it does when you use the original website.

Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Please visit those sites to read their privacy and cookie policies.

Analytics

Rebel’s Notes and Wicked Wednesday use Google Analytics to help me expand my reach on the Internet to grow traffic. All IP address information is anonymized.
Click here to read the Google Analytics Privacy Policy.

How long is your data retained?

When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, unless you request to have all your comments removed. This data is stored so any future comments can be recognized and not be marked as spam. Please note that all comments on both Rebel’s Notes and Wicked Wednesday are manually approved.

What rights do you have over your data?

When you have left comments on either site, you can request to receive a copy of those comments. You can also request for any personal data held about you to be erased.
