This heat… the summer heat… it’s getting to me. I love summer weather as much as the next person, but I don’t like hot humid temperatures, and that’s what we’ve been having all of this month. The hottest August ever. Just yesterday I said to my daughter I can’t wait for autumn, for the rain, and for the first fall storm.
But, I am worried, because I look around me, and look at the news on TV and I know: climate change is really happening. It’s scary… the fires, the flooding, the tornados where it never happened before. Some years ago I laughed when someone mentioned climate change, and now I’m hanging my head in shame because of that. Climate change is a real thing, and we all need to do our small part save our planet. I think the hot summers are here to stay…

Pub Crawling After Making Sergeant
Four years into my army career, I made sergeant, and a friend took me out on a celebration tour, where we went from pub to pub. That night didn’t end as well as it had started.
Riding Up To Floor Forty-Four
Everyone knew before Jack and Julia did – they were going to fuck each other. And they did, when they were together in the lift and thought no one could see them.
Being HIV Positive And Dying From AIDS
Capturing The Delicate Beauty Of Butterflies
I love macro photography, and what better place is there to capture macro photos than in a butterfly sanctuary? Even though it’s one big hothouse, and sweat frequently drips from my head, I love being there, and patiently wait until I can make the perfect picture.
Being With Someone Who Keeps You Safe
Before I started doing reviews of audio books, I had listened to one of K.L. Slater’s books, and her name stuck in my mind after that. Now that I have an Audible subscription, I can listen to as many books of her as I want.
Random People In Black And White
When out with my camera, I look at people around me, and make up stories about them. A couple lovingly holding hands, a man alone with a young child, or an old woman cycling all by herself. We all have our stories, and I always wonder about that of others.
Good Fences Make Good Neighbors
I wrote this story for the ‘eavesdropping’ month on the Microcosm publication on Medium. It’s about hearing a specific bit of dialogue, and then building a story around it. The dialogue was: “If I could just jump this fence, you’d be my dinner.”
Therapy Needed; Camping It Is
This starts out as just another camping story, but turns dark and nasty quickly. Read with caution!
I wrote this story for the Redemption magazine on Medium, where the prompt for August was ‘camping’.
Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom
Photography probably is just as big a part of my life as writing is, as it feeds my creative soul. This time I share photos of flowers, and an interesting quote, which I used as the title of the piece.
The Ups and Downs Of My Crazy Life
I am writing for another magazine on Medium, called The Memorist. It’s lovely having a place sharing my life memories. Their prompt for August was to write your life in six word chapters, which is what I have tried to do.
How Can You Not Like The Beautiful English Capital?
A collection of images I have taken in the beautiful city, London. My second favorite city in the world!
