Six Plus Seven Is Thirteen From Medium

This is the sixth time I share posts I have written for Medium, but which I haven’t posted here in this space… yet. Some posts, especially stories, will still make it here, but many will only appear on Medium. While on that subject, have you considered signing up for Medium membership? If you sign up for a year, you can read everything and anything on the platform for less than $5 per month! Just follow my link to support me and other writers.

That said, it’s time to share what I have written on Medium in the past month.

Giving Myself A Much Needed Break

I wrote something similar here on my blog, about having to make choices in life, and sometimes letting go of things you have been doing for a long time.

Pull Up Those Big Girl Panties!

My favorite genres of books to listen to are drama, suspense and crime novels, but this one popped up on my list and was a delightful, light-hearted and romantic listen!

The Future Express

The brilliant magazine for erotic and other fiction, Tantalizing Tales, had a prompt ‘trains’, for which I wrote this story with a Victorian feel. It was a delight to write and had me smiling when I pictured the scene in my mind!

Submit To Serial Stories

Some months ago, I started a publication on Medium, where I could put the chapters of my HIV story. I did this because another magazine wasn’t consequent with the day they put out my story, even though I always had it to them on time. I am proud to say, as from this week, my story is not the only one running on Serial Stories.

Technology And Nature In Harmony

Have you ever looked around you when you take a stroll outside in nature? Have you seen the technology? The bridge you walk across, a fence, windmills maybe? In this post I share photos taken by myself showing nature and technology mixing with each other.

Medium distributed this story to their subscribers.

I Allowed Her To Step Down From The Pedestal

Unknowingly, after my mom had passed away, because of grief, I had put her on a pedestal and kept her there no matter what. Then I learned about the betrayal of my parents, and my mom taking the secret to the grave with her. During my coaching sessions, I learned to deal with this, and came to a point where I allowed her to step down from that pedestal and just become my mom again.

Rotterdam, My Beautiful Rotterdam

Rotterdam is my most favorite city in the world, and here in this post, I share photos I had taken on one of my strolls through this wonderful city.

The Magic of Marriage

The June prompt on the Microcosm magazine is ‘armchair traveler’ and their first prompt dealt with the Trobriand Islands. Ever heard of it? I was amazed and also slightly appalled when I learned more, and tried to write a story that fit the prompt, but also didn’t make me feel too uncomfortable.

He Went Up Table Mountain To Say Farewell

HIV has been on my mind a lot this month, after being asked to share a post about being HIV tested. When I saw the second weekly prompt for the June ‘armchair traveler’ theme on the Microcosm magazine, all I could think of was the last trip my friend made up Table Mountain.

The Last Moments Of A Decaying Life

May, Posy and I share each other’s posts every other week, and this time it was my turn to do the post. I chose ‘transgressive fiction’, and wrote an intro story which deals with dying because of AIDS.

Climbing To The Summit Of Mount Everest

The third prompt in the June prompt on the Microcosm magazine gave us the opportunity to write about Nepal. I wrote a story about Mount Everest, and this story went viral. Okay, which is my and others’ definition of viral, which means the story had a lot of hits in a short time. At the time I wrote this, the story already had 1.1k hits, 4 days after I published it!

Those Long Drives From South Africa To Namibia

There is another magazine I write for that offers monthly prompts, and this one is called ‘The Memorist’. It’s a place to put your memoirs, and when I saw the June prompt of ‘family vacations’, I knew I had to write about the best years of my youth, which included holidays in South West Africa, which is now Namibia.

Medium distributed this story to their subscribers.

Play Along With This Game

This was the last book I listened to on YouTube, because after this I thought it was high time I ‘graduated’ to an Audible subscription. Play Along is a book that can easily be classified as erotic fiction, even though the sex scenes look the same towards the end of the book. However, the story around those sex scenes keeps you entertained throughout!
