I was looking for a quote about stars to go with my image, and when I found the one above, it was that last sentence that got to me.
“It matters that you don’t just give up.”
I never just give up. Never have, and never will. When things get difficult, I push on. I try to make them right, if possible; try to turn negatives into positives. I push on, and on, and on… until I know it’s a lost cause, then only I give up.
But, I never just give up.
So yes, look up at the stars, look at the world around you. Try to understand people; to understand that we don’t all come from the same background, don’t all have the same frame of reference. Learn from those around you. Respect others, even if their views are not the same. Don’t judge others. Remember the stars. There are millions of them, just as there are millions of people, and millions of different truths in the world. Having your own truth, doesn’t mean you dismiss the truth of the other, right?
Remember to look at the stars, and be thankful for who you are. Stand firm in your beliefs, but never be disrespectful to those of others. Remember to carry on, no matter how difficult life is, and you will succeed at something. We all do. Be positive, and never just give up.

Lovely post – Marie – remember the stars indeed and that the universe is so much bigger than our own personal worlds. I don’t know if you remember a post on my blog by Vlad – about strength – never giving up – the sentiment reminded me of what you have written – and I have always admired your strength and determination. I agree with every word you said, about not judging others but instead learning from others (that doesn’t mean that I let myself be carried away by conspiracy thinkers, I stand firm in my beliefs, I’m a rational thinker).
And to carry on in difficult times and never give up. My motto “everything will be all right, the question is when”. And of course Carpe Diem :-).
Oh yes, most definitely always think for yourself and not just follow what others say, but there thankfully are lots of rational people out there we can learn something from. You are always so good to remind me of Carpe Diem. Oh how many times this year I forgot about that…
