Stretch to fit

We’re living in a whole new social and economic order with a whole new set of problems and challenges. Old assumptions and old programs don’t work in this new society and the more we try to stretch them to make them fit, the more we will be seen as running away from what is reality.
~ Ann Richards

Sometimes stretching to make something fit is not the way to go…

I was looking for a quote to go with the image, something with the word ‘stretch’ in it, when I came across the quote above. Seeing the situation the world is in at the moment, these words, spoken by Ann Richards at a meeting of the Democrats in the US, back in 1985, seems quite relevant now. The quote comes from a time when the Democrats were looking for a new party image, but now it seems fitting because to all of us, it’s uncertain how we will come out on the other side of the global virus situation, what the world will look like when it’s over, and when it will be over. Already we have to learn new ways in distancing us from others, in working from home more than we ever had before, and in appreciating the key workers (health, teaching, food and medicine, transport, banks, public safety, national security and public services) much more than many of us did before.

We can’t run away from reality. We have to face it. And we, as humans, all have to stand together, to do our part in getting to the other side of this, no matter what it looks like there.

  1. I think all your tattoos are beautiful and I feel like I’m becoming repetitive in pointing this out, but I love how colourful this one is around your breast and how colourful your panties are and how nice the shadow shapes around your body while you’re laying against the backdrop of a serene, calm background. And from this angle with the tattoo around your breast, your nipple has very much been put in the spotlight of this picture. I really like this picture!
