#SoSS #111: The First 2020 Edition

We are four days into the new year — three and a half to be precise — and in the same fashion I did it in 2018 and 2019, I am continuing to share my picks of the week and all the upcoming memes in my weekly #SoSS post. I enjoy doing these post, and somehow they have been a fixed point in my week, making sure I keep up with the blogs out there. When I see new blogs, I add them to my reading list (I prefer to sign up for email updates, so if you don’t have that in your sidebar, make sure you put it there) and every evening I read a couple of posts.

Every Friday evening I sit down, do the Wicked Wednesday prompt post, and then my #SoSS. It takes me all of the evening to get these two posts ready, and only sometimes when I am too tired, I go to bed and schedule the post in the morning. But most nights when I go to bed, these two posts are ready to go the next day — the Wicked Wednesday at noon, and the #SoSS half an hour later. Oh, and of course I don’t only schedule the posts, but the tweets too. Everyone say I am organized, and I guess I am, but I am also a bit autistic (a joke in the family, not at anyone’s expense, since both my son and grandson have autism and I know all about their way of doing, so please, no one take offense!). Oh, and focused!

For now, let’s get on with ALL I have to share this week!!! It’s the last of a very long #SoSS until the end of 2020.

Sexy writing

I started reading Eye’s post, What’s Wrong With Her, She’s An Old Woman? And #CancleJaneyGodley and held my breath while reading the horrible things she has experienced, and by the end I sat here with tears in my eyes, knowing once more that she is a remarkable and powerful woman.

There is just something in Victoria’s words that really touched me; touched me in a way I know she intended. I love her image, and I love the message in her post, This is my Belly.

When I started reading Colour Match by Submissy, I had no idea where it would go. I literally squirmed in my seat reading this, imagining me there, in the chair, being talked about like I’m not there, and determining the color…

Hot images

There are two photo memes I check every week to look for sexy images to share here: Sinful Sunday and Lingerie Is For Everyone.

Wicked Wednesday

Every week someone else in the community does the top 3 roundup for Wicked Wednesday. Sometimes it’s me, but mostly it’s someone else. I love to engage others to do it, because I want Wicked Wednesday to be for everyone.

Are you interested in doing the roundup (again)? Just get in contact with me!

Prompt 396 for Wicked Wednesday was ‘A New Year’ for which 32 posts were linked. The top 3 was done by myself and I chose:

Smut Marathon

The entries for the Smut Marathon 2020 has been open since 15 December and as I am writing this, there are only about 20 places left for this year’s marathon. If you want to challenge yourself and your writing for a whole year, make sure you sign up this weekend!

Tips & tricks

I have loved seeing all the plans people have for the new year, and one of those is Brigit Delaney’s A “30 Days of Yoga” Challenge You Will Love!. Are you into yoga, or looking for a way to ground yourself, or reconnect with yourself, then this might be something for you. It’s not too late to start.

Girl on the Net has a good idea for you: New Year’s Resolution idea: Pitch your sex writing. Do you have the perfect idea for a piece of writing, pitch it to GOTN as she accepts (and pays for) guest posts!

And, the last tip for this week comes from PurpleSole: The Fan Club is Open. Yes, Littlegem has a fan club, so if you want to see more intimate photos than they share on their site, AND videos, subscribe to this fan club!

A Dutch story, but there’s an English version too.

Rebel’s year in review: fourth quarter

I have been doing my year in review for several years now, and this is my way to yet again say thanks to those who have acknowledged some of my work, and at the same time cast a light on their blogs. It reminds me of this wonderful community, where we all have a voice, we all want to learn from others, and we share each other’s work, because that makes the community even stronger.

Smut Marathon 2019

Since the semi-finalist names were known, it was time to make a list of the prizes the winner of the Smut Marathon 2019, and the runners up would win. That done, it was time for the ninth round, where the writers had to write a humorous story about a love triangle. Marsha Adams won the second round in a row, and the results also revealed the eight finalists.

Achievements & mentions

  • The Smut Marathon 2018 anthology was mentioned in Brigit Delaney’s post Brigit’s Favorite Things (#15).
  • My post, Vignettes of Kink was mentioned in Raven and Annabel’s post #SOSS – 5/10/2019.
  • My post, Door of Dreams has been chosen as one of the top 5 for the October 2019 prompt of Sinful Sunday:
Stairs and a doorway but really most of all the gloriously sexy curves of Marie. I love the beautiful light in this and the angle of the shot that makes us feel like we are being invited to follow her and quite frankly who could turn down that invitation?
  • My post, No Consent: Prologue (part 1), has been mentioned by Brigit in her post, Brigit’s Favorite Things (#16) :
This piece by Marie Rebel is a tough one, but I applaud her for telling the story – No Consent: Prologue (part 1). I’m looking forward to reading the following parts, no matter how uncomfortable the subject matter. Our stories are not always easy to swallow, but the hardest ones to tell and hear are often the most necessary.
  • My post, Door of Dreams was mentioned in Steeled Snake’s post, #SOSS 1 – Good Reading, Looking and Food for Thought.
  • The Smut Marathon was mentioned in Annie Savoy’s post, Light. It’s a beautiful testament to the competition!
I highly recommend the Smut Marathon as a writing exercise. I don’t know of any other writing competition that takes writers through so many different challenges, gradually increasing the assignments in both difficulty and word count. I’ve competed against many really talented creators and I got to stretch my own abilities and write in ways that were fun and uncomfortable and difficult and rewarding and also incredibly useful.
  • My post, Door of Dreams was mentioned in Sub Bee’s post Whats the buzz #22:
As soon as I saw this image I couldn’t draw my eyes away. Everything about it is incredible. The shape of her figure, the angles of the stairs and the upward angle of the photo itself all combine to create an absolutely stunning image.
  • My No Consent series have been linked in May More’s post, October 2019 ~ Blogging Summary & #SoSS.

Achievements & mentions

  • Rebel’s Notes has once again been mentioned on the list of The Top 100 Sex Blogging Superheroes of 2019 by Kinkly.
  • My post, Continuously on reset was mentioned by Charmer of Steeled Snake in her post SOSS 5.
  • My post, Death of Sexual Desire has been chosen as one of the top 3 posts for Elust 124.
  • My post, Obey Love has been chosen as one of Violet’s highlights for week 45 of #LIFE:
Yes, Marie fits the white cis woman majority here on LiFE (nothing wrong with that!) but she also represents lingerie as something accessible and enjoyable for people who are beyond their mid twenties/thirties. Mainstream lingerie marketing would *love* for us to believe that people in “middle age” (hate that term) or “seniors” (hate that term even more!) don’t want, like, wear or deserve, lingerie. Not true! This is not at all comment on Marie’s age – I have no idea her actual age! What I do know, is that regardless of chronological age and the limitations that Western society puts on people “of a certain age”, Marie proves that lingerie is for everyone and I am always pleased when the average age goes up for LiFE participants.
  • My post, Fisting: Filthy & Sexy was mentioned in Asrai Devin’s post, Interspiration 2109 #45.
  • My post, Plan your multitasking… was mentioned by Steeled Charmer in her post, SoSS 8.

Smut Marathon 2019

It was a busy month on the Smut Marathon site. First of all, after the final voting round, it was time to announce the winner. Bluesubmission was the lucky one, Carolyna Luna the first runner up and Hyacinth Jones the second. Of course, after the Smut Marathon 2019 was done, it was time for a reflection and to announce some minor changes.

Only one week after that the entries for the Smut Marathon 2020 opened, and they will remain open until 119 January 2020, unless we reach 120 participants before that. With the entries open, it was also time to start announcing the members of the 2020 jury. The first one to be announced was Cousin Pons and the second was May More. I am so happy to have them both on board!

Achievements & mentions

  • My post, Watching Them was mentioned by Posy Churchgate in her post, #SoSS Straddling November & December:
Marie Rebelle is a hardworking lynch-pin of our community. I loved this piece in which she is people watching, because it’s fascinating.
  • My post, From #fucketlist to #bucketlist? was mentioned by Violet Fawkes in her post, 5 Great Sex Blogs I Read This Week.
  • Rebel’s Notes has been mentioned by Deviant Succubus in her post My Top 20 Sex Blogs of 2019:
Marie is one of the bloggers that I have learnt most from this year. Her industrious and organized nature has guided me into making my blogging more productive and easier to comprehend. Her reflections around sex and her current D/s have been so refreshing to read this year. She is honest about how life, age and disability can make sex and a functioning D/s difficult to navigate, but definitely possible to succeed with. Her erotica has a touch of class to it, with proper settings and quite naughty sex scenes. I also immensely enjoy her photography and I can’t wait to see what she can create in her photo studio.
  • I have been mentioned on the #F4T Chef List 2019:
Marie has been an frequent chef since the Kilted Wookie days. I admire her dedication and how she consistently links up fabulous content.
  • I receive a beautiful mention in Melody’s post, 2019: That Was The Year That Was:
Marie puts so much in to the community running #WickedWednesday, the Smut Marathon and others that we should all recognise the effort she expends. Marie is another who was an early friend of this blog.
  • My image, Sparkly Butt was mentioned in Sweetgirl’s post, Sweetgirl’s Weekly Shares 21st December 2019.
  • My post, I think I have sex dreams, was mentioned by Charmer in her post, SoSS 11 — AKA Bawdy Bells 6.
  • I was mentioned in J. Lynn’s post, It’s a Holly Jolly SoSS 2019:
Rebel– is the creator of my most favorite meme- Wicked Wednesday. Even when I can’t post as often as I would like I try my best to work in this one. She also runs the Smut Marathon and that is no easy feat in itself.
  • Brigit Delaney humbled me with her words when she mentioned me in her post, My Top 10 of 2019:
My final selection is likely to always be at the top of my list, as she is my blogging goddess. I’m speaking of Marie of Rebel’s Notes, of course. If it weren’t for her, I honestly would not be blogging today…at least not in the way that I am. Her meme (Wicked Wednesday) was the first I ever wrote for. It is the thing that pushed me into the sex-blogging community and open my eyes to the possibilities of what my blog could be.
  • My post, Take My Breath Away was mentioned in Francesca Demont’s post, My Top 10 “memorable posts” of 2019 #SOSS.
  • Sweetgirl added me to her list: Sweetgirl’s List of Inspirational Bloggers 2019:
Marie is an amazing blogger, who also takes a great deal of her own time to help other bloggers find their voices. She hosts a number of memes Wicked Wednesday, Menopause Diaries, Oral Sex Project that I have taken part in, and the year long competition called the Smut Marathon which I have signed up to take part in next year. Marie writes fiction and true life posts, she is speaking at Eroticon next year and I am really looking forward to hearing what she has to say. I have this idea that she will be as funny in person as she can be on her blog.
  • I was mentioned in askmefast19’s post, Reflections and 2019 Bloggers:
@RebelsNotes, rebelsnotes is another significant figure in the community, very supportive and shares a background with me of growing up in South Africa in the 70’s and 80’s.
  • My image, Rudolph was chosen by Amber as one of the top 5 for Sinful Sunday week 454:
I was glowing with glee after seeing Rebels Note play on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! I love the dedication to the holiday spirit by even owning Rudolph nipple rings. This photo for me is just the epitome of the joy the holidays brings. Overall just a fun and playful way to enjoy the Sinful Sunday before Christmas, bravo.
  • May More mentioned me in her post, The May More Twenty Four 2019 Bloggers under the heading ‘Variety is the Spice of Life’:
One of the best things about Marie’s blog is she is always true to herself. Her posts – fiction or personal – are thought provoking and her images just get better all the time.
  • My post, Roll the Dice! was linked in Posy Churchgate’s post, New Year – New Dawn.
  • MLSlavePuppet chose my image, Rudolph as one of her favorites and mentioned it in her post, The Perfect Bow.
  • Bee mentioned my post, Happy old age in her post, What’s the buzz #24 and I really love that she has chosen a post that lies close to my heart:
I adore this image, so much so I just couldn’t stop staring when I first saw it. Macro photography can either show up everything you don’t want it to, or it can show so much beauty and interest. This definitely falls into the latter of the two. Every time I look I see something different. From the folds of skin to a hair to her piercings. It is incredible photography!
  • I love this sexy roundup of the prompts that for Masturbation Monday in 2019, and love that four of my images have been used. That reminds me, I should submit some more images!
  • My post, Public Punishment was mentioned in Asrai Devin’s post, 2019 Wrap Up.
  • Mentioned by Tabitha Rayne in her post, Horny Hogmanay! You Set My World Alight!:
With Ruby Glow I sponsored the Smut Marathon hosted by – the winner this year was Blue submission – it is a mammoth competition to curate, organise and host, hats off to Marie Rebel for her dedication! If that’s not enough, she hosts the weekly meme Wicked Wednesday! Go take part for excellent reading, writing and being part of the sexy community.

I concluded 2019 with 1,763,995 words published on my site, and a total of 2806 posts. I guess this means in 2020 I will reach 3000 posts on my site, and also conclude my tenth year of blogging, at the end of January!

Onwards and upwards we go! I have a lot more words in me than those already published!

  1. Thank you so much for the compliment on my picture, and the mention 😊♥
Your SoSS’s are so extensive it’s great! And I like that you pay a lot of attention to the prompts too!

  2. I love these posts so much. Even though I don’t have the time to do something similar, I appreciate that you highlight so many other writers. It points me in new directions and also helps me plan my writing week, since everything is all here in one post! Thank you for the mentions, as well! XOXO

  3. This is such a fab post Rebel, and I know you must put a huge amount of effort into these each week. I have only been doing my own share posts for a short time.

Thank you for the mention 🙂

    Sweetgirl x
