Normally on a Saturday at 12.30pm my time, my #SoSS post goes live. Normally I have the post ready and scheduled on Friday evening. That was the plan last night, even though I was only home at half past eight in the evening, from a spa day out with my best friend. But, early in the evening I suddenly had a fierce headache and had to actually take aspirin for it. We were in the swimming pool when the headache hit, and decided to call it a day, have some dinner and go home. My head was literally ‘burning’ when I got home, and where I was planning to do the posts anyway, I could hardly handle the light of the laptop screen, so sat on the couch for a while before I went to bed.
Yesterday wasn’t only a day of relaxing, but also a day of friendship. I share so much with my friend. She and Master T are the only two people on the face of this earth who literally know everything about me. Back when we still had playdates, we told her every little details. She would want for more to happen in her marriage, but her husband is incredibly vanilla, to the point of being a prude, so would never ever try anything ‘out of the ordinary’. There is nothing wrong with being wanting a very conservative love life, but then both partners must want it. I advised her to talk to him, because boredom has set in for her, and she hates it. All the little details she told me are just that, between her and me, but let’s just say that she wants more. In her own words: “Apparently I am vanilla, but I like chocolate more.”
I love that she confides in me, and that I can always confide in her. We have been friends for almost 14 years, and we still tell each other everything. Sometimes we don’t see each other for three months, but we are in frequent contact and I believe we are friends for life.
On my way home from the resort, I thought about our friendship, but I also thought about other friendships I have. I have always thought of myself as a 1-friend-person. When I was younger, I always only had one friend at a time. I was 16 when my first ever best friend died (she was also 16). I never had a best friend after that, until fourteen years ago. But, yesterday in the car I realized I am not a 1-friend-person anymore. I have several people I call friends now, and not only women. My best male friend is my husband, how cliche that might be. But, I also consider the couples (sometimes sexy things happen, sometimes only lunch or dinner) and some ‘single’ men we meet on a frequent basis as friends. At the end of September, I am traveling to London again on my own, and I meet… friends. I am privileged to have so many people I can call my friends, which is why Molly’s post (see below) warmed my heart so much, because even though I wasn’t there, I was.
Friendship is a beautiful thing!
When Violet Fawkes crafts a story, she has me hanging on every word, the way she did with this story: The Summer Lucky Came to Stay. Just read this, it’s brilliant!
A post that really resonated with me is Low Maintenance? by Honey. Things she said about asking something for herself are things I feel too, and would love to overcome.
This might not be sexy writing, but the word “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all” is so true that I just had to include May More’s post, Learning to love yourself. This is something we should always remember to do: love ourselves.
I can’t describe the intensity of my feelings of love when I saw Molly’s post In the company of women. A brief feeling of envy made place for this love, for the love of being with beautiful, talented women, and for being able to be ‘part’ of it when posts like these are shared. Seriously, I want the second image in this post as a painting on my wall.
- Devour by Violet Fawkes — I love how Violet’s beautiful red nails dig into her flesh. It made me growl a little!
- Horned Goddess by Lascivious Lucy — she’s starting to trust her ideas for photos more, and I say that’s a good thing!
- Dough by Kisungura — this is just so lovely! Yummily (is that even a word?) lovely!
- Hold back the river by Molly Moore — we all know Molly as a talented photographer, and this is just another image that shows her talent so beautifully.

The seventh voting round closed yesterday, and where voting was slow (this tends to happen at this time of the competition, and I wish I knew how to turn that around), there is a result, and we will have to say goodbye to five writers, as only 21 writers will go through to round 8. The results will be posted on the website tomorrow.

Just a tiny reminder that Lingerie IS for everyone, but Violet can say it a lot better than I can!
