Clicker Fan

The more you photograph, the more you realize what can and what can’t be photographed. You just have to keep doing it.
~ Eliot Porter

I ordered this fan from one of those Chinese websites where things are just so cheap! Actually, most of my photo props came from there. I wanted to take several images where I hold this fan, covering different parts of my body. And I did… and then I looked at the images on the screen and… slapped my head!

naked me with a dan in front of my face and the camera remote control showing in my hand
That clicker thing was not supposed to show in my hand!

I have done a couple of photoshoots after that, but then used my phone so I could see the shot, but I think I will soon start using the remote control again, and maybe redo these photos with the fan! However, somehow I think it’s fun that I have remembered to hide my face, but not the clicker!

Like the quote says: I will just keep on doing it.

The photography of course, not holding the remote in such a way that it can be seen!

  1. I honestly don’t know how self-photographers do it, I would be all over the place!

I do agree that you should re-do these fan images, this is beautiful.

  2. haha, that’s too funny about the clicker! but this really is a beautiful photo, it’s very gentle and feminine.

(also, I think the secret language of fans is just amazing and perhaps related to this, your photo feels so evocative.)

  3. I’m not sure I would’ve noticed the clicker if I hadn’t read your words! I was too mesmerised by your pose and the complimentary colours and patterns of the fan and your tattoo, such a gorgeous pose!

  4. I like it. I always hide the clicker too, but this photo demonstrates that it’s not necessarily a flaw.

  5. This is so lovely Rebel! I was so busy admiring the way your tattoo snakes lovingly around your breast and leads my eye right to the bright fan that I didn’t even see the clicker! But I’ve definitely done this many times myself. You look amazing though!

  6. And it is such a gorgeous fan . . . works so beautifully with your tattoo . . . just gorgeous !!!
And I probably wouldn’t have given the clicker a second thought until you mentioned it.

  7. I agree with May, and now I have to seek out a fan too.
This is the kind of forgetful thing I would do, if I was intelligent enough to own a remote…
