Finals & HIV #SoSS #55

[start of interruption]

Before I give you my #SoSS for this week, let me interrupt myself…

You see, I normally write my weekly post on Friday evening, especially if I have a busy Saturday planned, which is the case this weekend. While I was writing this post… no, let’s rephrase that… I had already written this post and was busy putting the different links in, when I switched to Twitter, and there it was: THE LIST. I had only expected this to be posted on 1 December, so it was a total surprise to see it there. But it was even more of a surprise when I saw the rest of Molly’s tweet: my blog, THIS blog… I am in the number 1 spot on the list of 2018. I cannot tell you how happy I am, happy enough that I cannot even convey my feelings onto the screen. I am so thankful and happy and proud. Thank you, Molly, for all your hard work, for Michael bringing her coffee and supporting her, and for the sponsors of the lost. And HUGE congratulations to ALL the others on the list!

[end of interruption]

This week saw us in the final days of our bi-annual three-week holiday, and as it always happened, by the time the end neared (wow, that sounds dramatic!), I started thinking about all the things I still wanted to do. But, I look back on three weeks of rest and sleep and yes, writing too. I seem to be more relaxed after the three weeks, and yes, some of it might also have to do with the treatment on Monday. I still have a lot of work to complete before the end of the year, but with some hard work and dedication I will definitely make it.

Something else I have to point your attention too… and yes, it’s also mentioned later in this post, is that the Smut Marathon 2018 is almost done. The decision to host and run the Smut Marathon, as well as the decision to step away from the Dutch community and concentrate my time and effort entirely on the English, was made in the hospice in July 2017, sitting at the small table typing on my laptop and watching my mom sleep. I told her about this, and she gave me her blessing, but she also said I shouldn’t work so hard. Sorry mom, I can’t help it. I had the perfect example. It’s in our genes.
Looking back on that decision, I now know it was a good one.

On to some sexy posts by some beautiful bloggers!

Sexy writing

Reading I Need More by Kayla Lords, made me think of a that one evening not so long ago when I wanted more too. And more and more… I will soon tell the story.

“What started in the head and body has grown to include the heart.”
This is but a small quote from eye’s post What’s in a name?, a post filled with so much love, but also thoughts that prod you to think about your own situation. I love what she has going here, and I will definitely hold on to my hat!

I know I have featured Cara Thereon several times here during November — the writing month — but allow me to point you to one of her stories again, Der Schmetterling. This is the third part of her latest story, and something tells me some more will follow…

I am also a fan of Brigit Delaney’s writing, but this week it’s not a story by her that I want to share, but a poem, filled with her feelings: Playing with Words.

Hot images

There have been quite a couple of post going around about men in panties, because of the Kink of the week prompt, and I loved reading them! The one I loved the most was done by Missy, a2zsubmiss V is for Vice Versa, and it’s the picture that really had my attention. So much fun!

A dreamy image by thebarefootsub is her lazy start to #boobday. I think she should have a lazy start like this every day!

A light so bright it even makes me look pure is a delicious picture by ‘The Joy As It Flies’. I just love the light in this image!

Tips & tricks

It’s that time of year again: the wonderful Molly Moore has done it again: she has worked hard to bring us The List: The Top 100 Sex Blogs. Okay, by the time of writing this (Friday evening), the list is not known yet, but, something is known already: the blogs that made the New Voices. There are so many wonderful blogs out there, and I love that some of my favorite new blogs have made it to this list! Read Molly’s New Voices and other thoughts to see who has made the list, and what other things Molly has to say (added later: and of course I know now – see top of this blog post).

Last but not least

World Aids Day 1 DecemberHIV is mentioned in the title of this post. This afternoon, on my way home from work, I listed to a talk on the radio, where they said that people with HIV is still stigmatized, while with the proper medication they cannot infect other people anymore. Some people who might have HIV don’t want to go to the doctor to be tested, because of this stigma, keeping the spreading of HIV intact.

I had a brief moment of sadness, thinking of my friend who died of AIDS in 1999. He contracted HIV in the mid eighties, and back then the medicine was not as good as it is now. Science has come this far to be able to contain a terrible disease, but as long as we stigmatize it, people will want to hide. It’s World Aids Day on 1 December. But, it’s not only on 1 December that we should try and help to stop the stigma. We should do that everyday. Let’s help to spread the word. Let’s be part of the solution, not the problem!
