Stairway To Heaven

I first wanted to make a new image for this month’s prompt – Stairs – but then Master T reminded me that we do have some photos where stairs are featured, from back in August 2013 when mom was in South Africa and we had to house-sit. We saw it as a perfect opportunity to use her house for photos.

Definitely a stairway to heaven…

These stairs led to the first floor and there was another set of stairs that led to the attic, where Master T and I had some fun on several occasions and we even invited a friend over for some fun. And boy, did we have some fun.

Since Master T chose the title of this post, I wanted to look at the lyrics of the Led Zeppelin song and when I read it, part of it made me think of mom, even though she never was a fan of this music. There’s just something in these words…

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she’s buying a stairway to heaven.

Note: I am sorry that I am yet again referencing to mom’s passing, but it’s still so very much part of my daily life, and my dreams, where she has appeared in several times since she died. Every time I see her, she’s smiling at me, as if she approves. It gives me peace.

  1. Beautiful photo, lovely. I can understand why your OH suggested it <3

Also please don't apologize for mentioning your mum. I am so happy to read her appearances in your dreams are giving you comfort Xxx <3

  2. Don’t apologise for mentioning your Mum. It’s such an important thing to be doing at the moment. This is a beautiful photo and poignant words. Xxxx

  3. I really love this image, your golden hair really works with these lyrics.

And please don’t apologise. The loss of someone so pivotal in your life is a huge milestone. Your blog reflects you and that includes what you’re experiencing too.

  4. What a gorgeous shot! You look phenomenal and I can’t help noticing how nice those shoes are!
You shouldn’t apologise for mentioning your mum, your words were lovely and a reminder to those who still have them with them to cherish that time. We might all equally love sexy stuff but a love for those we are closest to is something we all have in common too xx

  5. Don’t apologize about referring to your mom. She was and is a huge part of your life, and if people can’t deal with that, they can step to the left.

When my father passed away just over 2 years ago, I did the same thing and apologized for it. But he was and is one of the most important people in my life, and if friends/family can’t get with that, they too can step to the left.

    Sending you positive thoughts.

  6. Beautiful and what a great way to bring back those memories. Of your mum and of that time in her house. Lovely xxx

  7. I do enjoy your connection to your mum and the ease with which you speak of her. Please don’t let others tell you what is and isn’t right. You and GrandMaster T seem to work it all out perfectly.
Great picture and a wonderful remembrance x

  8. Hello beautiful lady. A lovely picture your hair is amazing. And naturally Mum is an all encompassing thought. You are right to share and talk, you were a wonderful daughter. Raw grief means never ever apologise, you have no need. We are privileged to share your words

  9. Please don’t feel bad for talking about your mom. It’s important to talk. You are always truly you and that is just one reason why we adore you.

BTW, hot picture of a gorgeous woman.

  10. Great photo. Particularly like the red of your hair and shoes.
My mum passed a few years ago and I also have dreams about her. I still miss her but know she can see I am finally happy and that would make her smile.
