J is for Just do it!

For this year’s A-Z Challenge I decided to focus on things that I have come across during our 5 years of active kink, and share my experiences and things I have learned, my opinion or things I am curious about. In each post I am using an image that has been used on my blog before, with a link to the original post.

Sometimes there are things that you should just do. Are there things you are curious about and want to experience, just do it! Go for it. Read about it, gather some information and just do it. Life is just too short to keep on wondering whether something is for you or not. Sometimes you have to take a leap and go for things you fantasize about.

I am not specifically talking about kink here. Yes, if you are curious about kink, dare to take a step into doing the things you want to do. Start a Twitter account, chat to people. Leave comments on the blogs of people who write about the stuff. Ask them questions. I know of no bloggers who would hate answering questions. Start a Fetlife account and look for munches in your neighborhood. Get to know people in real life and ask someone if you could go to a kink party with them, if they could introduce you to others in the community. If you stay at home, you will never get anywhere and your dreams will be just that: dreams.

Like I said, this is not specifically about kink. This is about all those things you are curious about in life and want to try. Only you can make it happen. You cannot expect of others to know what your dreams are, to know what you want and to make it happen for you. You are the creator of your own destiny. Do you want to be an old man or an old woman, sitting in your lazy chair, staring out to the world out there and thinking: I wish I had tried it?

Come on. Make your dreams come true. It’s better to try something you are curious about and realize it’s not as enjoyable as you thought it would be, than to not try at all.

Take the step, just do it!

  1. I was very hesitant to try wax play (I know, hard to believe that now) and after it was suggested to me that we try it during a weekend together I did a lot of research about it. I learned about the different kinds of wax and temperatures they tend to be, how close or far from your skin it is will affect the temperature as well. I was not sold on it beforehand but I HAD to try it once I learned more about it. Very glad I did because it is one of my favourite things.

  2. Stopping by to check out the blog and stumbled across an inspirational post to boot! I agree—dreams and curiosities exist for a reason, and that’s generally not to just be ignored. Lol.

  3. Take control over your own destiny…. I couldn’t agree more. Why waiting for something “wonderful” or “dramatic” or “kinky” to happen, if you can take the first step today.

I love your post today. I hope it will help people to cross a line they put for themselves…

    Great post,

  4. I agree. Do some research if you’re not familiar with something or ask around. I’m off the belief if its sorting you really want or think you’d enjoy – do it. When it comes to sex I didn’t want to be someone that said “I wish I tried that when I had the chance.” If all involved parties are consenting, why not?

  5. ‘Just do it…’ is a great mantra. I would rather be sorry about something I’d tried and hated than have regrets about never exploring at all. We all have hard, no-go areas, but as long as we are true to ourselves, why not try something new and exciting every now and again. (My no go areas include bungee jumping, first date sex, and homosexuality… But on the other hand I like it when my girl pees for me…)
