Tower of Numbers

The Tower of Numbers is an art work in Rotterdam on the Wilhelminapier. This piece of art has been designed by the Australian, Peter Wilson. The Tower of Numbers had digital numbers lighting up and those numbers indicated the world population, but also the current time and temperature. Unfortunately this piece of art, which has to rely on computers to work properly, has had problems working properly almost from the beginning. It’s far too expensive to repair, but the art remains in place, even though the digital numbers don’t work anymore.

I wanted to get this location as a notch on my Scavenger Hunt list, but it was only when I sat down to write this post that I saw that I already had public art on my list. I hope to get this location acknowledge or maybe the earlier ‘artwork’ location changed to something else. The earlier location might also be described as a national symbol. Who knows, maybe Dee will grant my wish, but if not, I still want to show you this Scavenger Hunt location, as it was part of our epic walk in which we gained 14 locations on one night!

Have you done a Scavenger Hunt yet? Come on, it’s fun and you can earn your own badges. Otherwise you can just follow the links and see other locations from other participants.

Depending on what Dee decides, this is my 43rd Scavenger Hunt location, or it is just a bonus for you guys!

  1. What a cool piece of art! Love the photos you got of and with it, too.

The previous scavenger location you’re thinking of (the cow) is under ‘sculpture’. So this one is included under ‘art (public)’. Now you know 🙂

    xx Dee
