My first contract

As you might know, one of my ambitions is to be a published author.

In the strictest sense of the word, I am a published author, but that is of two books I have self-published several years ago. It’s very easy to decide for yourself that your story is good enough to be published. At one of the sessions I attended at Eroticon 2013 it was asked who were published authors. I didn’t put my hand up, as I did not consider myself to be a published author. By then I had already decided that only once an outside have decided that my stories are good enough, and once I have one of my stories in a book, I will talk of myself as a published author.

2013 was all about sending in stories for different anthology calls. I wanted to send in a lot more, but there was just not enough time to write for all the different deadlines. I had to make choices and ended up sending in 12 stories. Two of those were in Dutch and those were published but still I did not think of myself as a published author.

The very first anthology call I answered to was by Rachel Kramer Bussel for her Short Short BDSM Submission Erotica Anthology. I sent in two stories on 30 March 2013, one day before the deadline. On 2 August I received an email that one of the two stories were accepted. I was flabbergasted and so incredibly happy. Only thing is that I had to wait another couple of months, because the publisher has final approval of the story selections. On the last day of 2013 I heard that my story would definitely be in the book. I could still not say anything, but dammit, I was so happy!

Now, finally, I can tell you about the book!

The title of the book is ‘The Big Book of Submission: 69 Kinky Tales’

When I heard that my story was accepted, one of my first reactions was relief that someone totally objective, someone who doesn’t know me, someone who hasn’t been following me anywhere had found one of my stories good enough to include it in a book.

I signed the contract with a huge smile on my face.

Do you see what I see?
It says ‘author’!

  1. Congrats to you! I once sent in two stories for one of Rachel’s anthologies but never even received a “thanks but you’ve not been accepted” email. Oh well.

  2. Congratulations!

I would love to have a story in an anthology but I haven’t been successful yet. Do keep trying though! 😉

  3. Ccngrats! I knew when I saw that was one of your goals that it was only a matter of time and I was so glad to see your name on the author list when I got the table of contents from RKB. 🙂 I have a feeling there are many more to come!

  4. Oh my goodness! I’m so happy for you I almost cried! Preordered the book and will hopeful get it signed someday!
