First of all, we are not into the Gorean lifestyle at all. Actually, I only know about them since I searched the Internet for submissive/slave positions. I was intrigued by the different Gorean positions, hence the reason why I suggested this as a Kink of the Week topic. I wanted to know who else know about these positions and maybe incorporate some (or all) of them in their relationships. Other than this, I know nothing about the Gorean lifestyle and do not really care to know more about it.
However, some of it is quite interesting…
The majority of Goreans who pursue a “lifestyle” approach often do not consider what they do to be BDSM. However, they are generally considered part of the “kinky” subculture. In that context, they reject the idea of isolated “scenes”. Instead, their practices may be described as 24/7, dominance & submission, and/or Total Power Exchange relationships. BDSM concepts of servitude and slavery typically play a key role in Gorean dynamics.
Part of the Gorean philosophy is training slaves to master different positions. Some of these positions are also used in BDSM relationships which do not follow the Gorean philosophy. The most basic positions are:
Kneel with thighs spread wide, back held straight or arched slightly, breast thrust forward, head held high with eyes lowered, sitting back on heels, hands resting palms up or palms down on thighs. Palms up was considered a plea for rape in some circumstances. Nadu is the basic position for the Pleasure Slave.
The slave moves to lay facedown upon the floor, forehead lightly touching the floor, legs straight with ankles crossed and wrists crossed at the small of the back.
Stands, feet about shoulders width apart, fingers laced behind the neck with elbows back, head up and eyes lowered.
“Leasha/Lesha”, apparently the Gorean word for “leash”, is the command given when one desires a slave to assume the proper position for the attachment of a leash.
This position is used to put on slave bracelets for chaining the slave. She places her hands behind her back, her shoulders pushed back, her breasts thrust outward, and her hands clasped tightly behind her back and ready for bracelets to be placed on her.
In an alternative to this position, the slave stands gracefully before her Master, with her hips slightly turned to one side, her back and shoulders erect, her wrists crossed behind her back and her head turned to the left, in anticipation of having slave bracelets attached to her wrists.
Sula, Gorean for “back”. A prone position often used by Gorean Master’s when they wish to take sexual pleasure of the slave girl.
Same position as Sula, just with a twist of arching the back and lifting the hips off the floor. Not a very comfortable position, but more accessible for Masters and inspection, as well as a pleasing view.
I do not consider myself a slave and where we have a 24/7 mindset, it is impossible to physically be busy with training for 24 hours. I am always aware that I am Master T’s sub and that I live according to the rules that He has set for me. We did not have any of these positions in our D/s relationship. In fact, we had no positions at all. Except, whenever I see Him with a collar in His hand I would stand in front of Him, turn my back, hold my hair up and wait for Him to put the collar around my neck. He does not have to ask me to do this. I just know I have to. Other positions have never been spoken about or practiced. Until recently. But that is something for a post of a more personal nature. This one is more about the information behind those positions.
Why would a Dominant (Domme/Master/Mistress) expect his sub (slave) to sit, stand or lie in these specific positions? These positions display the beauty or grace of the sub. Holding the position a Dominant expects of you gives an overpowering feeling of being totally owned and submitted. Seeing the sub assuming the position the Dominant has commanded, fills the Dominant with pride. These positions are about instant obedience.
What do I get from being in the position I am being trained for? Once I am in the position, I empty my mind. I feel connected with Master T. Only we exist. Nothing else. Sometimes I feel myself floating, waiting for the time to pass. Sometimes my legs hurt, but emptying my mind helps the pain to disappear to the back of my mind. In the position I feel owned, I feel my submission, I feel His ownership. It puts me in a submissive headspace – a place I like to be.
