Rebel’s Year in Review (Jul – Dec 2016)

Rebel's Year In Review

Christmas has been and we have indulged in some lovely food and drinks on both Christmas days. Now it’s time to get back to relatively normal days again, while we ready ourselves for New Year’s Eve and a totally new year.  I hope your Christmas days have been happy, whether you chose to celebrate it alone, with friends or with family.

Last week I gave you the first part of my yearly review, and this week I want to share my favorite posts from the second half of the year 2016 with you.

  • Lightweight by Exposing40 – I like how Exposing40 has highlighted both sides of the spectrum, those that are overweight but also those that are underweight.
  • It’s Too Easy To Believe by Tabitha Rayne – yes, I believe with her. This is a beautiful piece, written the day after the senseless attack in Nice, where so many people died and others were scarred for life.
  • If there’s no way… invent a lover by Eugene Noale – I never take for granted that I have a perfect relationship with my husband, but still it’s posts like this one that makes me want it for everyone: a perfect relationship.

  • My Sinful Sunday post of 3 July, WYSIWYG was chosen as one of Jade’s top 5 and this is what she said about it: I have followed Rebel for almost as long as I have been blogging; though we’ve never met I have felt a kinship with her and delighted in her adventures and undaunted courage. When I read of the cruelty and intolerance of people with whom she shared her real self, my heart broke a little. And then I wanted to smack someone. But then, when she ended her post, “I will not change for anyone!” accompanied by the image of herself half naked in the woods, I knew all would be well. That picture is so very much Rebel!

  • I am a fisherman by Hyacinth Jones – I love the analogies Hy made in this post, and I feel her longing, her loneliness.
  • On Secret Identities by Malin James – I think this rings true for so many people in the blogging world who engage with others using their pseudonym.
  • A Beautiful Thing by Honey – a post that brought tears to my eyes. The powerful message in it is something all of us should always remember. What a great gift her friend gave her!

  • My post Be has been chosen as one of Molly’s top 5 for the prompt week. This is what she said about the photo: I have spent a long time enjoying this image. There is something very intimate and tender about the way these two are interacting that I almost feel like I am intruding on this moment. Oh and at first I missed the tail…. don’t miss the tail, it only adds to the whole outdoor ‘wild’ narrative of this beautiful shot.
  • My post Sweet Strawberry has been chosen for the blast of the past in the week 284 roundup of Sinful Sunday.

  • Rebel’s Notes were mentioned on the third spot for the Top 100 Sex Blogggers of 2016. I am incredibly proud! These were Molly’s words: I have long been a fan of Rebel’s blog, after all we share a very similar relationship dynamic and so her writing often speaks directly to me but this year she seems to have really blossomed. Her blog is well designed, it looks fantastic and is easy to navigate and both the quantity and quality of her writing is excellent, perhaps even more so when you consider that English is not her first language.
  • My post Split Second has been chosen as the Blast from the Past for the Sinful Sunday Weekly Roundup 296.
