You might have noticed that my site was not available the last couple of days and that at this moment things are a mess on my site. The reason for this is that my site has been hacked on the evening of Tuesday 6 January 2015.
Apparently the hackers got in through one of my plugins, which seems to have a security leak in it, but we will never know for sure. I know this has not been a personal attack, but it sure felt like it was. I can’t begin to explain the feelings that run through you when you realize you have been hacked and there is danger that you might lose everything you have worked so hard on for years. Precautions have been taken for this to (hopefully) not happen again.
There’s still a lot of work to be done to get everything back in order again. It seems my media library has been hit the hardest. This coming weekend will be all about damage control and I hope by Sunday my site will more or less looked like it should. Wish me luck.
A special word of thanks to DomSigns, who has been and still is helping me to get my sites back in order again. Because yes, not only Rebel’s Notes have been damaged, but also Wicked Wednesday, my 365 Project and the site for my writer’s group have been influenced.
