2014: Rebel’s year in review (January – June)

RNYearInReviewI have started this year review back in January 2014, because I knew by the time it was January 2015 I would not have known what posts I liked and which were my favorite photos. At the end of each month I looked back on the month and chose my favorites. This idea is a twist on similar posts as I have seen on Jade’s blog.

Without thinking twice, Molly’s very first Sinful Sunday post of 2014 was definitely my favorite post of the month. Without even opening the post I can perfectly recall the brilliant image and again get that urge in me that I want to touch her right there!

Knickers, my very first Sinful Sunday post of this year is my favorite post of this month. We had so much fun making these photos and I think they came out strikingly beautiful!

I think Master T has outdone Himself when He made a photo for my ‘No face portrait‘ post. This will probably be the most I show of my face on this blog, ever! But then again, never say never!

My favorite photo of my 365Project
A photo that came out better than I could imagine was Day 4: My poison. I really like the spotlights on the table, around the bottles, even though no spotlights were directed at the items.

I signed my first author’s contract.

A post that made me smile very broad this month was one of Bawdy Bloke’s. I scrolled down the page, looking at the image and saw… yes, see for yourself. And that was not the end of my smiles. I read the text beneath the photo and my smile just broadened. Loved this post!

Oh definitely the post where I revealed that I have signed my first contract. I was and still am very proud of this achievement.

Another photo made by Master T. This one was during a silly, but sexy moment.

My favorite photo of my 365Project
Day 41: Grass – I love the perspective of this photo.

Emotional baggage by CJ Forrest, a story with a lovely twist.

Hidden memes, a post where I wanted to bring all the sexy (and sometimes forgotten) memes out in the spotlight.

My favorite photo of myself
On our way to Eroticon we snapped a scavenger hunt photo in the plane and it’s my favorite because of the sheer thrill I had when this photo was snapped.

My favorite photo of my 365Project
Day 73: Perfection – this is such a tiny flower and still it’s perfectly formed.

Nipple torture gone wrong is a bost by Lori. She’s right, we should not only tell about the things that went right, but post these kind of posts to warn others and let them learn from us.

X marks the spot is the first story ever where I killed one of my characters. That’s the thing with the A Darker Flame meme – it moves me to write outside my comfort zone.

My favorite photo of myself
I just love my chosen name and the post ‘Once a rebel‘ is all about the name!

My favorite photo of my 365Project
Day 100: The Fly – I had to choose between a photo of a blossom and this one. Since this was such a lucky shot, I had to choose this one to highlight it once more.

But that’s all in the past now – I love how Flip focuses on the future, but understands that you cannot prevent the occasional backward glance.

Dark fantasy, because this story was discussed in length on Twitter and in a blog post. It was never meant as a rape fantasy, but as a dark fantasy. The problem people one person (?) had with this story was that it wasn’t clear the main character consented to what is seen as consensual non-consensual rape. In my opinion, IF you want to see this as a rape fantasy (which I say again, it wasn’t intended to be), then the ‘consent’ is in there too! She shares her fantasy with the barman, she surrenders to his hands, even though she did not know who he was. She wasn’t afraid anymore as she knew he would not hurt her. Only thing is that while she was in this situation, she could not remember that she told the barman her fantasy, because she was drunk when she did!
That said, I do understand how this story could have acted as a trigger for people who have gone through something traumatic. I guess it was the way this was discussed, the fact that I was never approached directly, that irritated me more at the time than the fact that my story was ‘criticized’.

My favorite photo of myself
Strawberry Plug – I love the combination of the bright red strawberry and the shiny steel of the plug.

My favorite photo of my 365Project
Day 134: Upward – I cannot remember where I have first seen a photo of a dandelion that has been taken from below, with the sky as the background. Ever since that I wanted to make a similar photo and when I did, I was really happy with it.

Fifi 4: Surfing – hilarious chapter of Stranded’s brilliant Fifi-series, which I hope he will continue in 2015.

Private Performance – This story was written for the June prompt of A Darker Flame. I had something totally different in mind when I started writing and like with so many of my stories, this one started living a life of its own when I started writing.

My favorite photo of myself
Spilling the beans – there is something about the roundness of my ass that I love, and never want to lose.

My favorite photo of my 365Project
Day 173: Moonshadow – I cannot tell you how many times I have run outside with the tripod and my camera to make photos of the moon. The detail my camera picks up is amazing.

  1. This is such a wonderful idea, Rebel! As I read this I thought, “I should keep a running notebook of something similar for next year!” And I can’t wait to dig in a little deeper to all your links.

  2. A darker flamed definitely gets you write differently, I never thought I would mix sex and murder, but it seems to go along quite nicely with his influence, for some reason. I’m sorry you were criticized for fantasy story, I would’ve appreciated being approached personally for a discussion as well. Dark Fantasy is so hot, and it is an appropriate title.
I’ve been doing a monthly roundup, though no where near as extensive as this, as well. Can’t wait to see the rest!

  3. Marie, thank you for picking one of my posts, that particular one was quite difficult for me to write at the time, but I can look back now and remember the weight lift from my shoulders.

Happy Christmas to you and yours

    xx

  4. I love this take on my “First Lines” posts! A wonderful way to look back on the year, both in your own blog and life, and in other’s blogs.

And Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
