I admit, I sat looking at the subject and thought: ‘serious, sneakers? Sneakers is a kink?‘
But then of course my dirty mind kicked in. Anything can be a kink if you really want it to be. So yes, sneakers can be a kink too. It’s not my kink, but since from the beginning of Kink of the week I have not refrained from writing about subjects that are not on my kink list, this week was not going to be any different. And, a though shot through my mind, if high heels can be a kink, the sneakers can be so too.
I did not expect to find any information about sneaker kink, but I did. Okay, it’s not an informational site, but the Pinterest of Holly Ackroyd (no, I have no idea who this is!) and he called his board ‘Men in trainers/sneakers kink‘. I don’t think he has intended for a sex blogger to link his board, but so be it!
Now I did find a piece of information about sneakers on Wikipedia. No, I did not expect to find the mention of kink in the article, but there was one word that caught my eye and I just had to, yes HAD to share it:
Sneakers is a synonym for “athletic shoes,” the generic name for the footwear primarily designed for sports or other forms of physical exercise. Additionally, in recent years, sneakers have come to be used for casual everyday activities. The term describes a type of footwear with a flexible sole made of rubber or synthetic material and an upper part made of leather or canvas. Examples include athletic footwear such as: basketball shoes, tennis shoes, cross trainers and other shoes worn for specific sports.
Sneakers is the more common term used in northeastern United States and southern Florida. The British English equivalent of “sneaker” in its modern form is “trainer”. In some urban areas in the United States, the slang for sneakers is kicks. In Hiberno-English, Canadian English and Australian English the term is runners or sneakers. In South African English the term used is tackies.
See that last word? See it? Now THAT is a word I grew up with. And the Afrikaans equivalent was ‘tekkies’ which of course was nothing else than simple slang that we borrowed from South African English. The excitement when I saw this word almost made me go wet, which is a good thing, right? Which might just mean that tackies or trainers or sneakers (whichever you prefer) IS a kink to me. Otherwise I would not have gotten wet, right? Nah, it really isn’t a kink, I was just excited seeing the mention of a word I grew up with.
Sneakers have been taken to the next level in the last couple of years, since someone was clever enough to combine high heels with sneakers. I am not a fan of these, but I can imagine that some people like to wear them. I prefer either my sneakers for when I am off for a walk, or my high heels for when I want to feel sexy.
So no, sneakers is not my kink, but not all of us have to have the same kinks. That would make life just so boring! Then again, sneakers might not be my kink, but making sexy photos is one of my kinks and who says I cannot add sneakers to my photos?
PS: I borrowed the idea for this photo from Molly. This photo was made using the timer on my snapshot digital camera and I am quite happy with the result.
