Day 17: What misconception about kinky people would you most like to clear up?

Referring to what I wrote in my answer to the question for Day 16 in the 30 Days of Kink, there is one issue that I would like to clear up:

Kinky people are not weird!

Each of us are individuals and each of us have our own ways with things. I love to eat meat and I like chocolate, but my Husband is not as fond as meat as I am but can eat an entire chocolate bar without feeling sick. I love cheese, but a friend of mine thinks it’s awful and does not eat it at all. I alternate between wearing dresses, skirts and pants, but both my female colleagues only wear pants. I don’t like to travel to go on vacation, but another friend of mine loves nothing more than to travel to far-away countries to see other cultures and eat strange foods. As said, we all are individuals and accept that there are differences between people, that all of us don’t have to like the same things.

Now why are there a misconception about people living a kinky lifestyle? Why can this not be accepted the same way as we accept that other people like different foods than we do? Why should people think that kinky people are weird? Shouldn’t us kinky people think that people with a totally vanilla lifestyle are very weird? Or is it not better to just respect each other for the way we live?

I think the world will be such a better place if only we had mutual respect for each other in all aspects of life!

  1. Interesting thoughts.
I don't know why people judge others for their likes & dislikes. I tried to imagine what the world would be like if we didn't judge each other. I think it boils down to the fear of the unknown.
